Exploration targets 10.7 gram gold per ton at historic Fremont site
Lode Gold Resources has launched new exploration work to evaluate additional gold potential on its Fremont Gold Mine property located in Mariposa County, California. The wholly owned private patented mining property hosts 7 separate mineralization zones and 4 historic mines. At the deposits, where production was halted during the World War 2 years in 1942 when gold was at approximately $35 per ounce, gold was extracted at an average grade of 10.7 gram gold per ton during past operations. Combining mining activities with modern geological modeling techniques, the new program aims to uncover the economic potential of this historically operated site.
What infrastructure is located at the Fremont gold mine?
The historic Fremont site has an extensive infrastructure legacy comprising approximately 23 kilometers of underground workings, 14 portal tunnels, 2 shafts, and 43 thousand meters of historical drilling data. The prepared 2026 resource estimate covers only 3 of the 7 deposits on the property. Modern exploration carried out to date has been completed across less than 20% of the license landholding. While previous technical reviews were predominantly concentrated in a narrow 800-meter corridor, 9 new exploration targets have been identified along a 4-kilometer mineralized trend. Geological data reveals that the gold-bearing vein systems continue uninterrupted both at depth and along strike.
Which site was given initial priority in the exploration program?
Among the satellite areas with past active production, initial work priority was assigned to the French Mine area. Located 2 kilometers by road from the primary development area, the Pine Tree Josephine deposit, this mine operated in the 1930s with a grade of 10.7 gram gold per ton. Blending this high-grade ore with the main production stream has the potential to directly increase mill feed quality. Technical teams are digitizing 2014 surface channel and 2016 core samples as they continue preparations for 3D geological modeling.
Lode Gold Chief Executive Officer Wendy T. Chan stated that they see a significant unlocked value-creation opportunity on the property, whose roots trace back to the 1849 California Gold Rush. Exploration operations at the site reach depths of up to 1,300 meters. 3 deep step-out drill holes successfully intersected mineralized ore structures. The company plans to share new field data regarding the technical and operational work conducted in the region with investors within 30 to 90 days.
