Justice Minister Akin Gurlek announced that legal action has been taken against 404 people to date within the scope of investigations conducted into the stock market and investment funds, and 88 suspects have been arrested.

How many people were arrested in the stock market probe?

According to data shared by Minister Gurlek on social media, in addition to the 88 people arrested in the capital markets manipulation and illicit gains cases, 26 suspects were detained. While courts imposed judicial control measures on 195 people, efforts continue to apprehend 42 fugitive suspects. The statement noted that proceedings are being conducted meticulously based on concrete evidence, with the aim of protecting investor rights and market savings.

Who do the asset measures cover?

In the financial dimension of the investigation, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took critical precautionary decisions. Within this scope, bank accounts registered in the names of 351 natural persons and 102 legal entities were frozen, their assets were seized, and the transfer of real estate was halted. The precautionary decisions aim to secure assets obtained through unfair gains and bring suspicious financial transactions under control.

Refunds made by individuals and companies deemed to have obtained illicit gains to accounts opened within the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) are continuing. Minister Gurlek emphasized that the returned amounts and investigation findings are being monitored by chief public prosecutor's offices, and that judicial investigations and financial processes are being operated concurrently.
